Lok Sabha Election 2024: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) released the list of 195 candidates on Saturday (2 March). In this list, Bhojpuri film superstar Pawan Singh was made the candidate from Asansol seat of West Bengal. A day after this, i.e. on Sunday (3 March), Pawan Singh announced on social media that he would not contest the elections due to personal reasons.
Meanwhile, there is talk that BJP is planning to field a woman candidate in place of Pawan Singh from Asansol. The discussions about this female candidate being a heroine of Bhojpuri films are spreading rapidly in the political circles. There is a possibility that now BJP can field Bhojpuri heroine Akshara Singh against Shatrughan Sinha from Asansol. Akshara Singh is a big name of Bhojpuri film industry. He is very popular in Bihar as well as other states.
Akshara Singh was also associated with Jan Suraj Abhiyan
Akshara Singh also has political ambitions. Last year, she was also associated with Prashant Kishore’s Jan Suraj campaign. However, now that Pawan Singh’s ticket has been cut, there is talk that Akshara Singh may be BJP’s choice. However, the question is why does BJP want to give ticket to Bhojpuri star from Asansol?
Political equation of Asansol
Actually, Bihari voters have an important role in the political equation of Asansol. Non-Bengali voters in Asansol are around 5 percent. Most of them are originally residents of Bihar and Jharkhand. These people work in coal mines and steel factories.
Akshara is a big artist of Bhojpuri industry
At the same time, leaving aside the controversies related to Pawan Singh, Akshara Singh’s image is clean. Not only this, she is currently the biggest heroine of Bhojpuri industry. She has been working in Bhojpuri industry for the last ten years. Akshara, who has more than 6 million followers on Instagram, has given more than a dozen Bhojpuri hit films. Huge crowd has been gathering in Akshara Singh’s stage show.
Pawan Singh trolled after getting ticket
Not even half an hour had passed since Pawan Singh got the ticket that Pawan Singh started being trolled on social media. Posters of his Bhojpuri films started being shared. Anti-BJP parties started creating issues through posters by calling Pawan Singh’s films insulting to women and obscene.
According to sources, due to this Pawan Singh had to announce not to contest the elections. BJP did not want the message to be sent from the party side that his ticket has been withdrawn. Therefore, Pawan Singh himself announced this on social media citing personal reasons. This social media post of Pawan Singh spread like wildfire and within no time the anti-BJP parties got an opportunity to attack.
